May 18, 2017The Puerto Rico Energy Commission (“Commission”), pursuant to Section 6B of Act No. 83 of May 2, 1941, as amended, known as the Electric Power Authority Act, and Section 6.23 of Act No. 57-2014, as amended, known as the Puerto Rico Energy Transformation and RELIEF Act, and Act No. 170 of August 12, 1988, as amended, known as the Uniform Administrative Procedure Act, Regulation No. 8543, Regulation on Adjudicative, Notice of Noncompliance, Rate Review and Investigation Procedures, and Regulation No. 8594, Regulation on Integrated Resource Plan for the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority, is currently undertaking a proceeding to thoroughly review the benefits of the Aguirre Site Plan (“AOGP”). The objective of this proceeding is to determine whether or not construction of AOGP is commensurate with a low-cost, low-risk path to meeting the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority’s (“PREPA”) future resource portfolio needs.
In order to ensure public participation in this proceeding, the Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at 3:00 p.m., at the Commission’s Hearing Room, Seaborne Building, 268 Muñoz Rivera Ave., 8th Floor. In the public hearing, any person may comment on the economic analysis of AOGP as presented by PREPA. Those persons who wish to participate in the public comments hearing may send an email to the Commission (comentarios@energia.pr.gov) in order to secure their turn.
Any person, other than intervenors, who wish to file written comments may do so on or before May 30, 2017 via email at comentarios@energia.pr.gov or send them via regular mail or hand delivery to Commission’s offices, located at the Seaborne Building, 268 Muñoz Rivera Ave., Suite 702, San Juan, PR 00918. Comments must be addressed to the Commission’s Interim Chairman, Edison Aviles-Deliz, PE, Esq..
The Aguirre Site Economic Analysis file is available for public scrutiny at the Commission’s website (www.energia.pr.gov) or at the Commission’s Clerk’s Office, located at Seaborne Building, 268 Muñoz Rivera Avenue, Plaza Level Suite 202, San Juan, Puerto Rico. The working hours of the Puerto Rico Energy Commission are between 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., on business days.
